Music is a very important part of our life and worship at St Mary’s.
We have a small but talented Choir under the direction of Hugh Crook our Director of Music and Organist. Hugh is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists (ARCO), was organ scholar at Emmanuel College Cambridge and organist for St John’s voices, Cambridge. He played on a critically-acclaimed CD of choral music by William Mathias, released by Naxos

We are always looking to expand the choir – we are particularly looking for sopranos at the moment but all voices are very welcome and the Choir draws in temporary members for our Christmas and Easter services.
The Choir sings a wide range of anthems during our 10am service and also combines with the choirs of the other churches in our team for special occasions and on visits to cathedrals.
St Mary’s Third Sunday Band is made up of adults and children and plays hymns and more modern worship songs during our monthly Worship for All Service. Young people who have reached Grade 2 or above are very welcome to join.
We have recently started a Children’s Choir which sings at our monthly All Age service. Children aged 4-11 are welcome to join.
