Music

Our lovely Director of Music Hugh is moving and so will be leaving us. We are looking for a new DOM. If you or someone you know might be interested, you can find more details here.

Music is an important part of our life and worship at St Mary’s.

The Choir

We have a small but talented Choir under the direction of Hugh Crook, our Director of Music and Organist. Hugh is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists (ARCO), was organ scholar at Emmanuel College Cambridge and organist for St John’s Voices, Cambridge. He played on a critically-acclaimed CD of choral music by William Mathias, released by Naxos.

We are always looking to expand the Choir, all voices are very welcome. The Choir also draws in temporary members for our Christmas and Easter services.

The Choir sings a wide range of anthems during our 10am service and also combines with the choirs of the other churches in our team for special occasions and on visits to cathedrals.

The Band

St Mary’s Band is made up of adults and children. It plays hymns and more modern worship songs during our monthly Worship for All Service. Young people who have reached Grade 2 or above are very welcome to join.

Children’s Choir

We have recently started a Children’s Choir which sings at our monthly Worship for All Service. Children aged 4-11 are welcome to join.
