The ‘family corner’ at St Mary’s

Children and young people are a very important part of St Mary’s congregation and are welcome at all our services. During the 10am Sunday Service there are age-appropriate activities for them: PlayChurch for the youngest children, and on the first Sunday of the month Tower Half Hour for 10 upwards. On the third Sunday of most months we all worship together. Music is led by the Band and Third Sunday Choir, and the children and young people play an active part in the service.

For those with Sunday morning sporting commitments we’ve started a monthly Sporty Church at 2pm, usually on the first Sunday of the month. We sing, listen to a bible reading and join in an activity. Recent services have included ‘Blessing the backpacks’, a pet service and a service thanking God for the sports we enjoy.

Babies are very welcome at all services and we have a Family Corner at the back of church where small children can crawl on the carpet and play with soft toys. Ask for a ‘Baby Bag’ when you come in. You are welcome to feed your baby here.

If you are thinking about having your child baptised, you can find details here

During Advent, the days leading up to Christmas, many of our families take part in the ‘Knitivity’ in which a knitted Mary, Joseph and donkey visit families in the parish and have all sorts of adventures as they make their way to the stable for our Crib Service on Christmas Eve.
